Among those rescued are six minors.
As part of the comprehensive maritime security and control operations carried out by the Colombian Navy, the rescue of 25 people who shipwrecked when the boat they were traveling in capsized in the Playa Dorada sector, approximately 30 minutes by boat of the Buenaventura District, in the Valle del Cauca department, was carried out.
The rescue began when a relative of one of the people, alerted the Naval Institution about an overturned boat in the area, with several passengers on board. Immediately, two Rapid Reaction Units – URR of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station were sent to provide support in the emergency.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Colombian Sailors safeguarded the lives of the occupants of the boat and provided first aid. According to the testimonies collected on site, the accident apparently occurred because the boat was carrying more passengers than allowed, which generated the incident.
It should be noted that, after the respective review, it was confirmed that the ship did have the current navigation permits established by the General Maritime Directorate – Dimar of Buenaventura.
