Destruction of hideout with explosive material that would belong to the residual GAO, in Meta

cogfm-ejercito-neutralizacion-explosivos-gao-residual-meta-06.jpg

More than 540 kilograms of rudimentary explosives were found in jungle area, near a water source in the municipality of Uribe, Meta.

In territorial control operations, carried out in the Department of Meta, soldiers belonging to the Infantry Battalion No.29 Germán Ocampo Herrera, of the National Army, in an interagency work with the Attorney General's Office, found in rural area of La Siria, municipality of Uribe, Meta, an illegal hideout of explosive devices, which would belong to the residual organized armed group, GAO-R, structure 40.

Approximately, 18 packages with about 30 kilograms of rudimentary explosives were found at the site; once the situation was known, the explosives and demolition Group (EXDE) activated safety protocols to carry out the detonation of explosive charges in controlled conditions.

According to intelligence reports, these explosive devices are intended to attack troops that are carrying out eradication work in that area.

The use of this type of improvised explosive device confirms once again the terrorist operation of these groups outlaw, which intend to attack the lives of the inhabitants with flagrant violations of human rights and violations of international humanitarian law, by the use of unconventional means and methods of war, expressly prohibited in the various international treaties and protocols.
