With this result, the Organized Armed Group, GAO,  Clan del Golfo,  stops receiving more than 4,600 million pesos monthly. This year, the National Army troops have destroyed 107 illegal mining production units in Antioquia; these units generated irreparable environmental damages.

In a military operation conducted by the National Army, jointly with the Air Force, coordinated with the Police and inter-institutional with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation and responding to early alerts No. 017 of 2018 and 009 of 2019, a complex of the Edwin Román Velásquez Valle substructure, of the Clan del Golfo, was dismantled.

This complex was on the Quiparadó village, in Dabeiba, in Antioquia, where the National Army troops arrived, thanks to the information provided by the Civic Participation Network. For the crime of illicit exploitation of mineral deposits and other materials, 14 people were captured on the site; they were put into custody of the judicial authorities.

The complex consisted of 5 illegal mining production units, where 35 motors, 6 mixers, machinery and other elements used for this illegal activity were in the same way destroyed; these elements  were valued at more than 10,000 million pesos.

The National Army, in compliance with the strategic line of water, biodiversity and environment of the Defense and Security Policy of the Republic of Colombia, maintains the operation against this illicit activity, which hits the GAO Clan del Golfo to finance criminal operations against civilians and Security forces.
