In an effort to strengthen ties with ethnic communities and support the comprehensive development of its members, the Colombian Aerospace Force carried out an outreach activity in the La Cumariana indigenous reserve, in the municipality of Cumaribo, Vichada. During the activity, school kits were distributed to the parents of the community, reaffirming the commitment of the Colombian Aerospace Force with the education and wellbeing of indigenous people.
The activity not only focused on the distribution of educational materials, but in the same way included talks on the prevention of forced recruitment, conducted in coordination with the Infantry Battalion No. 43 (BIROJ 43) and the Child and Adolescent Police. These talks are part of a comprehensive strategy to protect young people and prevent them from being victims of recruitment by illegal armed groups, a problem that has historically disturbed communities in the region.
The event directly benefited 91 people, who actively participated in the scheduled activities. The parents who received the school kits expressed their gratitude and highlighted the importance of these supports for their children's education. In addition, the talks on the prevention of forced recruitment were well received, underlining the need to continue working together for the security and future of indigenous youth.
