The Vulcano Task Force continues its direct fight against drug trafficking, in Norte de Santander.
In a joint military operation with the Air Force, coordinated with the National Police and inter-agency with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General鈥檚 Office, troops of the National Army with the Task Force Vulcano, its component of aviation and the Brigade Against Drug Trafficking, found and destroyed a drug production complex, which would have belonged to the Organized Armed Group (GAO) ELN, and would cost USD$1.7 million.
The military operation took place in rural areas of the municipality of Sardinata, Norte de Santander, where the troops dismantled the complex for cocaine production made up of three laboratories, one of them for the production of cocaine hydrochloride and two for the production of coca based paste. The illegal complex had a production capacity of more than 1.1 tons of narcotic, which produced incomes for its illegal finances valued at USD$1,758,718 million dollars.
At the site, troops also found 1,475 kilograms of solid supplies, 3,596 gallons of liquid supplies, 1,900 gallons of fuel and different machinery and equipment that were used for the production and distribution of these drugs throughout the Catatumbo region.
It should be noted that for the operation of these illegal laboratories was required a boiler, ten microwave ovens, three tables of drying, thirteen barrels with capacity to store five gallons, five test tubes, a transformer, 25 metal containers with a capacity to store 55 gallons, an engine, a power panel and three mixers.
After the review of the material and the structures, the destruction was carried out in controlled conditions to prevent damage to the environment.
