As part of the National System for Risk Management and within the framework of emergency response strategies, the Colombian Air Force continues to join efforts to support the extinction of the forest fire via Isla Salamanca Park in Sitionuevo, Magdalena department.
This is how, of the Military Transport Air Command- CATAM sent a C-40 type aircraft to transfer specialized professionals of the National Fire Directorate of Colombia from Bogotá to Barranquilla and load with equipment, accessories and tools, to give continuity to the control operations carried out by the military operations personnel of this territory.
It in the same way sent A-29 Supertucano aircraft of the No.3 in Malambo, in the department of Atlántico, with the aim of carrying out Surveillance and Reconnaissance overflights of the burnt area. The above, taking into account the magnitude of the fire, and efforts to support the extinguishing of fire in the Via Parque Isla Salamanca
For this mission it was necessary to use the Bambi Bucket equipment, in which three gallons of retardant liquid and 6,615 gallons of water were dropped over the flames at decisive points to stop the progress of the fire.
