With environmental commitments, the National Army promotes the care and respect for ecosystems.

The military units of the Eighth Division of the National Army in the departments of Casanare, Arauca, Vichada, and Guain铆a, joined the celebration of International Earth Day, a day created to raise awareness about the impact generated by the pollution, as well as the importance of taking care of biodiversity, and the environmental responsibility of mankind.

According to the guidelines issued by the higher command, the soldiers who are in the area of operations strive daily to mitigate the damage caused to the environment. So far this year, the soldiers have planted more than 2,900 trees of different native trees, they have found more than 13 cubic meters of illegally felled wood and 3,300 gallons of liquid precursors destined for the illicit extraction of mining deposits. They have in the same way provided support to relief agencies in the control of five forest fires that have occurred this year and have arrested nine people for different environmental crimes.

The Eighth Division of the National Army has 19 forest nurseries distributed in the departments, four in the department of Casanare, nine in the department of Arauca, five in Vichada and one in Guain铆a, who have 45,519 native trees in the process of germination that will be planted in the coming months as a plan to contribute to the care of the environment.
