”Either they surrender or we will go after them”: President Duque warns criminal groups in Buenaventura

The head of State said that criminals who commit crimes again, after paying their sentences in the United States, will be extradited again.

The president entrusted the new Minister of Defense, Diego Molano, with the task of dismantling the drug trafficking networks operating in Buenaventura, which have already received heavy blows.

“This year, those crime groups will fear. They have only one choice: either they submit to justice or we will go after them, so they will be met with the full force of the law. They better surrender, because we will be ruthless”.

This was the warning made this Saturday by President Iván Duque to drug trafficking groups that commit crimes in the Port of Buenaventura, during the inauguration of the new Minister of Defense, Diego Molano.

According to the head of State, these drug trafficking groups intimidate and fear the area, in order to evade pressure of the authorities. Therefore, he entrusted Minister Molano with the task of dismantling these criminal networks.

“We also know that some of the criminals, who returned after they paid their sentences in the United States, are trying to commit crimes again. It is very clear: not only we will go after them, but also if we have to extradite them again, we will do it”, president said.

In addition, he said that groups that are committing crimes in Buenaventura have links with other residual crime groups, such as Oliver Sinisterra, or Jaime Martínez and Dagoberto Ramos, as well as with the Clan del Golfo.
