Troops of the Field Artillery Battalion N.° 7, in coordination with the National Police, reported the finding of a significant amount of cocaine hydrochloride in Puerto Gaitán, Meta department.
The drug was hidden in the double-bottomed mode, hideout type, in a tractor-trailer. According to military intelligence information, the shipment would belong to the individual known by alias Pescado, the main ringleader of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Structure 39 Arcesio Niño.
During the operation, an individual was arrested, a native of Jericó, department of Antioquia, who was driving the car, with 242 packages of apparently cocaine hydrochloride, whose weight is 270,928 kilograms.
According to preliminary analyses, the drug would have originated in the department of Cauca and was planned to be collected in the Colombian-Venezuelan border area, with the aim of consolidating drug trafficking routes to Venezuela, through the Orinoco route. This result represents a severe blow to the illicit economy of the GAO-r 39, damaging its finances by approximately 3400 million pesos.
