The Colombian Navy, within the framework of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional operations, against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, in the department of Nariño, during the month of September and October 2025, reported the finding and dismantling of 34 illegal laboratories used for the production of coca paste base.
The operations were carried out by troops of the Navy Infantry Brigade No.4, in the municipalities of Tumaco, El Charco, Olaya Herrera, Mosquera, Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé, Francisco Pizarro, López de Micay, Guapi and Timbiquí, in the department of Nariño, they found and destroyed these improvised rudimentary constructions, finding inside, 2,394 kilograms of solid precursors and 12,303 gallons of liquid precursors, used in the different phases of the illicit production.
According to Naval Intelligence information, it is presumed that these constructions would belong to the Residual Organized Armed Group –GAOr - Alfonso Cano, as well as to the Structure Iván Ríos and the Rafael Aguilera, which use drug trafficking as the main source of financing for their criminal operations against the Military Forces and the communities of the region.
It should be noted that the construction and operation of this type of illicit constructions involves the deforestation and alteration of large rainforest areas, spoiling the Colombian Pacific ecosystem. The chemical waste is dumped indiscriminately into soils and water sources, increasing the levels of pollution and environmental degradation.
As a result of these operations, the finances of the criminal organizations that commit crimes in the South Pacific suffered a loss of more than 762 million Colombian pesos, thus weakening their logistical and monetary capacity.
