The squadron of Air Superiority Kfir leads, for the first time, foreigner fighter planes in air combat exercise.
Las Vegas, Nevada (United States). In the most recent day of flight missions that are performed at Nellis in the United States, for the first time, the Colombian Air Force led as “Package Commander” (commander of the package of aircrafts) the air combat exercise Red Flag 18-3. This exercise counted on the participation of combat aircraft Kfir, F18, F16, electronic warfare EA18, tanker KC767 “Jupiter”, KC135, and KC10, the bomber B-52 “Stratofortress”, and unmanned aerial vehicles 9 “Reaper”.
The mission for the package of strategic bombers, was planned and led by the Squadron of Kfirs that previously ordered each one of the crews and the eight targets to shoot down during the exercise, which were assigned to the Colombian Air Force; 30 objectives were assigned to bomber B52 and two to the Reaper, respectively.
Once accomplished the initial mission, the aircraft Kfir proceeded to meet with the “Jupiter” in the air, for refueling and so starting another mission, this time an air-to-air mission serving as escort aircraft, attacking on dynamic targets in real-time. These targets were assigned as the objectives were competed.
Today’s mission distinguishes the Colombian Air Force, since it counts on the experience to lead air forces of different countries when required by organizations such as NATO. This is the opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities, experience and training of combat pilots in planning and executing with precision, air operations for the defence of the interests of the nation.
