These rudimentary facilities would be valued at 393 million pesos.
The military operation carried out by troops of the Command Against Drug Trafficking and Transnational Threats, CONAT, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Directorate of the National Police, found 14 laboratories for the production of illicit substances, in the municipalities of El Carmen del Darién, Chocó department, and Tierra Alta, Córdoba department.
These constructions contributed to the maintenance of the criminal activities of the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, in the aforementioned areas of the country.
The illegal buildings, allegedly managed by members of the Javier Yepez Contreras substructure, were used for the production of coca paste base, an essential precursor in the chain of cocaine hydrochloride production.
4475 gallons of diesel, 1172 gallons of gasoline and 200 kilograms of chopped coca leaf were found by troops at the scene, in addition to machinery and equipment necessary in the production of narcotics.
According to information obtained through military intelligence work, it was established that, once the coca base paste completed its elaboration process, it was transported to the municipality of Medio Baudó, Chocó department, where it would later be distributed to chemical processes for its transformation into cocaine hydrochloride.
Then, the substance was transported out of the country through the Pacific Ocean to be marketed in Central American countries and islands. Through this military action, the sources of financing of the GAO Clan del Golfo were hit by 393 million pesos.
Colombian National Army will continue to promote the security and well-being of the inhabitants of the national territory through the permanent development of military operations to counter transnational threats that intend to affect the stability of the nation.
