In a military search and control operation over the Meta River, planned and executed by the Colombian Navy, in coordination with the Colombian Air Force, the National Police and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Prosecutor's Office, it was possible to find 557 kilograms of creepy marijuana, in Nueva Antioquia, in the department of Vichada. The alkaloid was transported in a boat used for commercial transport.
The interception of the boat was conducted by a unit of the Navy Infantry Battalion No.51, after the crew of the boat refused the search by the military personnel of the Colombian Navy. Two people of Colombian nationality who were on board were captured and put into custody of the authorities. The drug was found on the deck of the boat and it was distributed in 1,114 rectangular packages.
“With this type of results, the Colombian Navy and the Naval Force of the East contribute to reducing the drug trafficking, always seeking to orient our efforts primarily towards the fight against this type of financing of outlaw groups, which become the main beneficiaries of the profits of the illicit alkaloid business, being agents of violence and social vulnerability”, said Commander of the Fluvial Navy Infantry Battalion No. 51, “Lieutenant Colonel of Navy Infantry Juan Luis Ramírez Restrepo.”
With this result, this year, the Naval Force of the East has found about three and a half tons of alkaloids, 2,048 kilograms are marijuana.
