During the operation, two Colombians were arrested.
As part of the operations carried out by the Colombian Navy against the transnational crime of drug trafficking, a unit of the Coast Guard Station of Buenaventura intercepted a ship transporting marijuana, crewed by two individuals of Colombian nationality.
Thanks to information provided by Naval Intelligence, a unit of the Buenaventura Coast Guard Station detected a ship that was traveling suspiciously through the waters of the North Pacific Colombian waters. The Colombian sailors proceeded to intercept the boat, finding inside 24 sacks with characteristics of illicit substances, as well as communication equipment and fuel barrels.
The two arrested individuals, aged 37 and 26, along with the material found, were taken to the facilities of the Naval Institution. There, officials of the Technical Research Corps - CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test, determining that the bags contained 760,239 kilograms of marijuana.
The arrested personnel and the material were put into custody of the authorities to carry out the corresponding legal procedures.
Through this result, the Colombian Navy prevented the entry of more than four million dollars into the finances of the drug trafficking organizations that commit crimes in the region, as well as the marketing of more than 126 thousand doses of narcotics on the streets of the world.
The Colombian Navy reaffirms its commitment to the protection of communities and the lawful use of the sea in the Colombian Pacific, maintaining, with specialized personnel, a constant and offensive deployment of its differential resources to confront drug trafficking and other illegal activities.
