In an immediate reaction, the aeronautical firefighters of Air Combat Command No. 5 arrived at the village Abreo, after being alerted by the Undersecretary of Risk Management of the municipality of Rionegro, to face timely a forest fire caused by the fall of a balloon in this rural area.
The operation was made with the support of officers, soldiers and a machinist of the Department of Operational Safety, who by means of a rapid speech vehicle equipped with UHPS (ultra high pressure system) and manual tools facilitated the entry into the difficult terrain; using technique of direct attack, it was possible the control and extinction of the fire.
Thanks to the effective reaction of the firefighters of the Colombian Air Force, it was possible to protect a house that was close to ignition, ensuring the lives of those who inhabit this area of eastern Antioquia and preserving the native vegetation, besides protecting a body of water nearby.
