The First Division of Colombian National Army presents positive report on the military operation of the first semester in the Caribbean region

La Primera Divisi贸n del Ej茅rcito Nacional entrega positivo balance operacional del primer semestre en la regi贸n Caribe

The operations framed in the Ayacucho Campaign Plan have led the troops of the First Division to carry out powerful blows of the military operation in the first six months of this year.

The First Division of Colombian National Army, headquartered in Santa Marta, Magdalena, together with its military units composed of the Second Brigade, the Tenth Brigade, the Joint Task Force Marte and the Medium Combined arms Task Force, in the departments of Atl谩ntico, Magdalena, Cesar, La Guajira and in the south of the department of Bol铆var, have obtained important results in the first semester of 2024 against the different factors of instability that converge in the north of the country.

The military operations of the troops have reported to date the arrest of 576 individuals linked to common crime, 152 people accused of being part of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, 5 individuals linked to local groups, 33 members of the Organized Gang, GDO, Los Pachencas and 4 individuals that would belong to the structure of the GAO ELN. In the same way, the death in the framework of military operations of 4 people works for as with these organizations outlaw.

The soldiers have done an important job focused on demobilization, where thanks to the continuous military operations, the voluntary surrender of 7 people who would be part of the different structures that converge in the north of the country took place. In this way, in the search for a new life within the law, as part of the program of the Humanitarian Assistance Group for the Demobilized of the Ministry of National Defense, these people were given all the security and respect for their rights.

In the same way, troops have worked tirelessly to counter the problem of drug trafficking in the north of the country, which is the financial engine responsible for the criminality and terrorism of illegal groups. Thus, as a result, in the first half of 2024, more than 783 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, 8,688 kilograms of marijuana and 14 kilograms of coca base were found by troops in process.

10 laboratories for the production of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops, and it was possible to eradicate 4 hectares of illicit plantations, thus preventing a greater damage to the flora and fauna in which the men and women of the First Division of Colombian National Army protect, ratifying the firm commitment to neutralize the illicit activities and the logistical scaffolding of organized armed groups.

On the other hand, the training of the soldiers who make up the Explosives and Demolition groups (EXDE) has been intensified. As a result of their professionalism, they have been able to find and destroy in controlled conditions 92 improvised explosive devices, apparently installed by members of criminal organizations, in flagrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law.

The troops of the First Division have in the same way found more than 3,000 million pesos in contraband items, which individuals planned to transport into the interior of the country, evading national tariffs; troops in the same way confiscated 165,000 gallons of fuel that did not have the corresponding permits to be marketed.

Simultaneously, different activities have been carried out for the benefit of the environment, focused on caring for and preserving the natural resources and water sources of the north of the country, throughout the first semester of 2024, with the reforestation of rainforest areas hit by deforestation with 23,905 native trees of the region.
