With the activation of the Juan José Rondón plan, the Colombian Military Forces have strengthened and accelerated the strategic operation against Organized Armed Groups and illicit activities that finance crime, contributing directly to the strengthening of security conditions, stability and territorial military control in different regions of the country.
This operation, which is a comprehensive part of the Ayacucho Plus Joint Strategic Campaign, consolidates as an instrument that drives the effort of the military operation, oriented to joint resources and institutional coordination, increasing losses to instability factors, contributing to the military control of the territory through an agile and multidomain response, protecting the inhabitants and neutralizing strategies of persistent threats; all of the above in 5 focused areas of strategic interest: Catatumbo region, Cauca department, Arauca department, Nariño department and south of Bolívar.
As a result of its implementation, in the last 30 days, the criminal structures have suffered losses such as : 631 members of Organized Armed Groups eliminated (543 arrests, 34 surrenders to justice, 28 minors recovered, 11 killed in operations) the confiscation of 165 firearms, more than 22,800 ammunition units and 199 explosive devices, as well as the dismantling of the criminal structure Grupo 34 GAO-r, with 11 surrenders to justice in Carmen de Atrato, department of Chocó and the Jhonier Arenas GAO-r structure with 03 minors recovered, 04 arrests and 03 deaths in operations in Leticia, department of Amazonas.
In the same way, important results were reported in the fight against illicit activities and the entire drug trafficking value chain with the seizure of more than 38 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, 21 tons of coca leaf and 188 destroyed laboratories, hitting the illegal economy of these structures at an estimated cost of US$ 1,254,000,000.
In the military operations that seek to protect the environment, it was possible to arrest 41 people for illegal exploitation of mining deposits, the seizure of 66 dredgers, 256 engines, motor pumps and electricity generators. In the same way, it was possible to mitigate 3 damages to the petroleum pipelines and 13 illegal valves were destroyed.
In this strategic operation, the elimination of key ringleaders stands out, including alias Santiago the maximum ringleader of the ELN in the west of the country, who was carrying out acts against the inhabitants, and was also carrying out organizational political work in the region.
In the same way alias Polo, ringleader of the Mordisco faction of former FARC dissidents in the department of Amazonas, in charge of the security and logistics of this terrorist, being responsible for violent acts, illegal control of the territory and dynamization of illicit activities.
These results represent a direct and sustained loss to illicit activities, significantly weakening the sources of financing for drug trafficking, extortion and other criminal acts that negatively hit the inhabitants.
