The history of the Non-Commissioned Officer marks an iconic event in the history of the institution.

Julieth Paola Pushaina Epiay煤, belonging to the Zahino indigenous reserve in the department of  La Guajira, is a 26-year-old woman who always dreamed of being a military. Her brother was a soldier who and died during an ambush in Arauca when she was only 12 years old.

Pushaina grew up in a context marked by many difficulties, in a low income family and with limitations such as water scarcity in the middle of the arid geography in this part of the country. However, this did not stop her from moving forward and working to make her dream come true.

Currently, Corporal Julieth Pushaina is the first Way煤u woman in the entire history of the National Army. Today she proudly wears a pixelated Guajira blanket, as a symbol of respect and identity in her culture. She works at the capacity of Comprehensive Action with vocation and respect for the indigenous communities of this region of the country.
