In coordination with the National Personnel Recovery Center - CENRP and the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management – UNGRD - a surveillance and reconnaissance operation was carried out on the territory hit by the forest fire in the Chingaza National Natural Park, over the departments of Cundinamarca and Meta; the territory of the Sumapaz National Natural Park and its surrounding municipalities such as San Juanito and El Calvario was in the same way verified.
The operation was carried out with crews of the King 350 Aircraft and the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter of the Military Transport Air Command- CATAM- and the Air Combat Command No. 2- CACOM 2-, respectively, with the firm purpose of verifying the fire outbreaks to contribute to the analysis of the damage and prevent the occurrence of more fires that disturb the flora and fauna of this territory.
“These types of missions are important for the Colombian Aerospace Force, because we are an active member of the National Risk System, thus we contribute to the conservation of Natural National Parks, preventing deforestation, emission of gases that hit the inhabitants and above all preventing major damage,” said Major Felipe Arroyo, specialist in Risk Management and Disaster Care of the FAC.
