Four people, who were allegedly carrying out activities related to illegal mining, were arrested in the municipality of Hobo, Huila department, thanks to a joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, the National Army, the National Police and the Attorney General's Office, with the support of the Regional Corporation of Alto magdalena.

This effort led to directly interrupting the deterioration that was being carried out on the El Zapayo stream in the village of Las Vueltas, and indirectly to the Magdalena River, in the same way the detainees were put into custody of the authority for the crimes of illegal exploitation of mining deposits, damage to natural resources and ecocide, environmental pollution by illegal exploitation of mineral deposits and loss of a water source.

Among the elements found there were three mining production units and four motor pumps, directly harming the illicit economy of an organized common crime group, which commits crimes in the central west of the country and whose loss represents on average, an approximate monthly cost of 42 million pesos.

This result is the product of the permanent work of the Colombian Air Force together with the other members of the Military Forces and institutions that work for the protection of the environment.
