As part of a comprehensive strategy for environmental conservation in San Andr茅s, the Colombian Aerospace Force, through the Military Transport Air Command (CATAM), carried out the transfer of a compactor machine in a C-130 Hercules aircraft from Bogot谩 to the island.
This equipment will be essential to improve solid waste management on the island, leading more efficient production and encouraging the recycling of materials. Its implementation seeks to reduce the environmental impact and move towards a more sustainable model.
The project, led by Schooner Bight Ethnic Association, aims to restore the ecological balance of the archipelago, and the arrival of this compactor represents a key step in that direction. It is estimated that this initiative will lead recycling of approximately 75 tons of waste, contributing to the conservation of natural resources and the care of the environment.
The close collaboration conducted by government and local institutions has been a fundamental pillar for the success of this initiative, leading a more efficient and sustainable management of natural resources. Thanks to this joint work, not only the archipelago's biodiversity is protected, but in the same way environmental awareness within the community is strengthened, promoting responsible practices for the preservation of the ecosystem.
Through operations like this, the Colombian Aerospace Force reaffirms its commitment to environmental conservation and the protection of biodiversity throughout the national territory. Its operation goes beyond surveillance and logistical support, becoming a key actor in the implementation of sustainable strategies that contribute to the recovery and conservation of ecosystems.
