So far this year, the National Army has reported about 10 arrests for extortion in the department.
Thanks to the operations carried out by the soldiers of the Caquetá Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), through the prevention activities to combat crimes such as kidnapping and extortion, in a military operation in coordination with the National Police, it was possible to arrest an individual known as Gallo, for the crime of association to commit crimes for extortion purposes, in the municipality of Florencia.
The individual arrested by judicial order committed crimes in the municipalities of Momil, Purísima and Chima, department of Córdoba, and in the municipality of San Vicente del Caguán, department of Caquetá, where he allegedly intimidated ranchers and merchants in the region to demand high sums of money in exchange for not attacking their physical condition and that of their families.
The arrested man was put into custody of the authorities for the respective prosecution.
With this result, the National Army contributes to the institutional control of the territory, bringing tranquility to the region, preventing the inhabitants from being victims of crimes such as extortion.
