One of those arrested for drug trafficking would have belonged to the organized armed group ELN and would have judicial records since 2007; the three arrested for extortion would have received a sum of more than 100 million pesos from their victim.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Campaign Plan, troops of the Risaralda Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group), the Intelligence Battalion and the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) of the Attorney General's Office carried out a military operation against the crime of drug trafficking in Pereira, Risaralda, where four individuals were arrested and 7 kilograms of coca base paste found.
It was through a human source that the troops received interesting information about a possible purchase and sale of coca paste base. This led them to find a person who was traveling from Bogot谩 to Pereira to carry out the illegal drug trade.
The Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Risaralda with its intelligence unit, carried out a follow-up of almost a week, to establish the individual鈥檚 modus operandi and review the places and situations in the environment.
In this way, the troops determined that they were contacting citizens in the municipality of San Jos茅 del Palmar and that they would travel by land to the capital city of Risaralda with the coca base paste.
Having detected the moment of arrival at the agreed point, these people were arrested in flagrante and put into custody of the authorities, as well as the narcotic and five cell phones. The individuals were charged with the crime of manufacturing, trafficking and carrying narcotics.
In another result, the Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) Risaralda, together with the CTI (Technical Investigations Corps) Gaula and by judicial order, arrested two men and a woman who specialized in the crime of extortion under the modality of sexting, in this case a citizen of the city of Pereira.
They had been threatening the victim for about a year, according to his account, with the publication of intimate photographs. In exchange for their silence, they received a sum of more than 100 million pesos.
The man approached the troops and denounced the fact, which led the investigators to obtaining the evidence to impute the charges of extortion and, after this, making the arrests in the cities of Medell铆n and Pereira.
Those arrested were put into custody of the Attorney General's Office and, after carrying out the urgent acts, they were ordered to stay in prison.
