The General Command of the Colombian Military Forces congratulates the Colombian Navy for the recent recognition granted to the ARC ARTURUS project, which reaffirms the Institution's commitment to the energy transition and sustainability.
This initiative was selected as the winner of the Seed Category (less than 1 MW) in the CataHyst Colombia H₂ Awards, granted by the BDI – Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie e.V. and the ANDI – National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia, standing out among 40 initiatives evaluated at the national level.
This recognition is the result of a clear institutional conviction: the responsibility of leading the energy transition of the maritime sector in Colombia from a public, technical and strategic perspective. The ARC ARTURUS development is a concrete expression of the Strategic Energy Transition Plan Gaia of the National Navy of Colombia, aimed at integrating innovation, sustainability and technological sovereignty at the service of the country.
The proposal has been conceived and structured in four progressive phases:
- Vector H₂, as an initial experimentation platform (executed phase)
-Green Energy H₂, oriented to the validation of generation and use technologies (phase in execution)
- Ecotea, as a demonstration ship of clean solutions
- ARC ARTURUS, as a final integration into a larger-scale military operations platform.
The General Command expresses its gratitude to the strategic allies that have supported this effort, including COTECMAR, ANDI, the Colombian Hydrogen Association, the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the National Planning Department and Vecthyo.
This recognition is not only an achievement for the Colombian National Navy, but in the same way a boost for the country as a whole. Public innovation, coordinated with industry, academia and production groups, is consolidated as a transformation engine for the future of the Colombian maritime sector.
