The General Maritime Directorate, Dimar, through the Port Authority of Bah铆a Solano, in coordination with the Natura Colombia Foundation, led a cleaning activity in El Almejal beach, within the framework of the Playa Libre, Basura Cero program, which aims to take care and protect this coastal space of the municipality.

During the activity, it was possible to collect approximately 378.5 kilos of solid waste, such as: glass bottles, containers, icopor (polystyrene), cans, among other items.

During the cleaning, it was possible to obtain 255 kilos of plastic, which were donated to the Association Oc茅anos Libres de Pl谩stico, which through recycling processes transform this garbage into wooden accessories; the rest of solid waste were stored in bags for final disposition in the municipal dump.

At the end of the cleaning, the importance of protecting the beaches of the municipality and preserving them free of waste not typical of the coastal environment was highlighted; in the same way, the Maritime Authority recalled that these good habits strengthen responsible tourism in the region.
