The General Maritime Directorate (Dimar), through the Port of Buenaventura Authority, presents a positive report in tourism and maritime transportation in this weekend, where the movement of 846 boats to the main beaches of the District was reported, managing to transport 16,882 people, who had the opportunity to enjoy their stay in the middle of the humpback whale watching season in this area of the Colombian pacific.

This week of break was accompanied by Dimar officials, who in coordination with the District Mayor's Office, Colombian Navy, National Police and Civil Defense, of the tourist pier and beaches of Buenaventura, supervised compliance with the main security measures established, such as: use and bearing of elements and documents for navigation, status of ships, implementation of biosecurity protocols and maximum capacity of the boats.

Thanks to this work, during the weekend there were no maritime casualties, nor situations that put human life at sea at risk.

On the other hand, during the whale watching activities, the Port Authority carried out various awareness-raising and training operations in comprehensive maritime security, emphasizing the correct use of security elements; in the same way, patrols were carried out by Dimar and the Coast Guard of the Colombian Navy, reinforcing the work of its officials during weekends with greater quantity of tourists.

These operations led 4,154 boats to safely transport more than 75,000 people from the tourist pier, on the occasion of the humpback whale watching season that began last July.

This positive report, confirms the good behavior of the maritime sectors and tourists who came to visit and met fully the safety standards established by the General Maritime Directorate and other military and civilian authorities. On the other hand, it is possible to demonstrate the coordinated operations that seek to contribute to the reactivation of the tourist District and contribute to   coastal communities through sustainable activities in the region.
