The military operations continue to weaken the resources of the ELN organized armed group in this area of the country.
In the framework of military operations carried out by the Eighteenth Brigade of Colombian National Army, in coordination with the National Police, there was a combat against members of the Ernesto Che Guevara group, of the Domingo Laín Sáenz front, of the organized armed group ELN, which resulted in the death in the framework of military operations of two of its members, the arrest of six more and the recovery of a minor.
The events were reported in the Alto San Joaquín village, of the municipality of Saravena, department of Arauca. During the operation, the recovered minor was put under the protection of the authorities for the restoration of his rights.
According to military intelligence information, the members of this group would be responsible for carrying out terrorist acts against the Military Forces and the inhabitants in the municipalities of Fortul and Saravena. In the same way, this criminal structure was planning and executing terrorist acts since before the recent electoral elections, with the purpose of affecting security and disturbing law and order in this area of the department.
During the operation, five long weapons, three short weapons, 908 cartridges of different calibers, 23 magazines, abundant elements of military accessories and intelligence analysis elements were seized, elements that significantly affect the logistical and criminal resources of this structure of the GAO ELN.
