As part of military operations aimed at striking illicit activities and strengthening security in the Magdalena Medio region, National Army troops, in coordination with carabineros of the National Police, in the Locality 1 of Barrancabermeja, Santander department, reported the arrest by court order of five alleged members of the Organized Armed Group, GAO, ELN, belonging to the Finance Group of the Edgar Amílkar Grimaldos Barón Front.
Those arrested, known by the aliases of Lalo, Manuel, Eduardo, Alex and Gomelo, would be responsible for criminal activities related to the illegal appropriation and commercialization of fuels in this region of the country.
During this operation, a traumatic pistol with its respective magazine and cartridge, four communication radios, cell phones and more than eleven million pesos in cash were found by troops, elements that were apparently used to facilitate illicit activities that disturb the strategic resources of the nation, and favored the finances of this organized armed group.
Those arrested were put into custody of the judicial authorities and will have to face charges of receiving fuels, seizing fuels and their derivatives and associating to commit crimes.
