Thanks to the strength of the military operation, two men were arrested when they were planning to receive $15,000,000 million pesos as result of an extortion against a businessperson in the region.
Troops of the Meta Military Gaula (Anti-Extortion and Anti-Kidnapping Group) arrested two individuals, one, 30, and another, 36, who pretended to be members of the self-called Autodefensas Gaitanistas of Colombia and used it to send intimidating WhatsApp messages to the victims.
In this case, the two men monitored the family's movements and subsequently used the information obtained, such as places they had been and revealed license plates of the vehicles they owned, to assure their victims that they were being watched, and so they should comply with the demands in exchange for respecting the lives of their children.
These arrests complement all the results of the military operation in which the illicit activities of common crime groups have been weakened so far in 2025, thus increasing the perception of security in the department.
