In the department of Nariño and border areas, through 158 air operations carried out in compliance with intelligence requirements, military forces have participated in the planning and execution of joint, coordinated and inter-institutional missions, in which the Colombian Aerospace Force has significantly contributed to the weakening of specialized drug trafficking structures in the southwest of the country.
These operations led to the seizure of 14.5 tons of cocaine hydrochloride, the disabling of six machines used in illicit exploitation activities and the disablement of a clandestine track used for drug trafficking. In the same way, two Go Fast type boats and two semi-submarine devices destined for the maritime transport of illicit substances to international markets were identified.
In the same way, it was possible to find 18 illegal warehouses and the destruction of 503 laboratories used for the production of alkaloids, directly hitting the logistical and financial capacity of these criminal organizations, all of this leading to the arrest of 47 people who were put into custody of the authorities.
These results have been possible thanks to the effective use of airplanes, helicopters and remotely piloted aircraft, which carry out reconnaissance, surveillance and georeferencing of strategic objectives, integrating air resources with the other branches in order to preserve security and stability in the region.
By 2026, the Institution will incorporate the space domain into air operations through the use of satellite images, strengthening security operations and optimizing threat anticipation, which achieves more precise decision-making in defense of sovereignty and constitutional order.
