After the heavy earthquake of magnitude 6.4 occurred in the center of the country, the Colombian Aerospace Force carried out a surveillance and reconnaissance mission over the municipalities of Medina, Santa Cecilia de Paratebueno village in Cundinamarca, where the epicenter was reported.
Using a Bell 206 Ranger helicopter from the Air Combat Command No. 2, along with Colonel (R) Jorge D铆az, Director of the Civil Defense department of the Meta, they monitored several points where the greatest damages to houses, roads and critical constructions occurred, in order to give timely notice to the authorities and risk management organizations, Santa Cecilia being the place with the greatest damage, according to information.
In the same way, communication and coordination is permanent with municipalities through the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management UNGRD, the National Center for Personnel Recovery CENRP, the civil and military authorities to mitigate the possible additional damages that may arise. Colonel Suurbier Ocampo, Commander in charge of CACOM2, said that the damaged areas and the upper parts of the mountains were verified in order to prevent possible natural emergencies and air missions will continue to be counted to provide support in the vulnerable areas.
