Aviation Army moved the mortal remains of the Cabildo’s Governor Jose de los Santos Suana

A helicopter of the Aviation and Air Assault Division and troops of the First Division of the National Army provided humanitarian support to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Maintaining all the special security protocols, soldiers of the First Division and the Aviation and Air Assault Division of the National Army, carried out the transfer of the mortal remains of Cabildo’s Governor José de los Santos Suana.

The National Army's humanitarian support consisted in transporting, from Santa Marta to the Kogui community, in Pueblo Nuevo, the mortal remains of the indigenous governor, to be buried in accordance with the cultural traditions of his community.

The remains were transported through the external cargo mode, or by external basket, a technique used by expert pilots in this type of transportation.

It is important to note that this transfer was carried out in compliance with the final disposal for deceases associated with COVID-19 by the health authorities, as well as the guaranteed biosafety and safe packaging conditions of the funeral service.

The National Army regrets the early departure of the Cabildo’s Governor José de los Santos Suana, and is always ready to provide humanitarian support to those in needs.
