The group consisted of eight people, including several foreigners.

Troops of the Infantry Battalion No.38 Miguel Antonio Caro, the National Army, in a joint and interagency operation, along with the Brigade Against the Illegal Exploitation of mineral deposits, Military Intelligence, the Colombian Air Force and the National Police, reported the arrest of eight people who commit crimes such as the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits.

During the procedure carried out in a rural area of the municipality of Puerto Bogotá, in the municipality of Guaduas, it was possible to arrest six citizens of Venezuelan nationality and two Colombians, as well as find four motor pumps valued at 28 million pesos.

With these illegal actions the individuals arrested who sought to extract gold, generated a negative environmental impact on at least six square hectares, whose recovery would have an approximate cost of 6,000 million pesos and more than 30 years to return to its original state.
