A 21-year-old man, belonging to the indigenous reservation Uni贸n Pitalito in Bajo Baud贸 region, Department of Choc贸, was taken to Medell铆n in a Colombian Air Force UH-60 Angel helicopter.

After suffering serious injuries on his right leg after stepping on an improvised explosive device, and receiving primary care of the Colombian Navy, the National Army and the Red Cross and an aircraft arrived at the Air Combat Command No.5, in Rionegro, Antioquia, to carry out the priority transfer of the patient to the Pablo Tob贸n Uribe Hospital in the capital city of Antioquia.

The request received by the Personnel Recovery Center-CNRP, through the Government of the Department of Choc贸, was immediately assisted by the Air Institution, which designated an Angel helicopter to fulfill this humanitarian mission.

Despite the adverse weather conditions and thanks to the expertise of the crew, it was possible to reach the municipality of Pizarro, where the patient was. During the flight, the vital signs were monitored by the Colombian Air Force doctor and nurse, handing him stable to the medical personnel who was waiting for him at the health center to provide specialized care in accordance to the injuries.
