Intensified search for finding four missing in the department of La Guajira

The boat had set sail from Bahía Honda to carry out rudimentary fishing work, on July 31.

The Colombian Navy in coordination with the General Maritime Directorate intensifies the search operation for the rudimentary fishing ship, which apparently suffered a maritime accident approximately 57 nautical miles north of Puerto Estrella, in the department of La Guajira.

Once, the Riohacha Port Authority learned about the alleged accident of the boat by a relative of one of the crewmembers, the Colombian Navy with its Coast Guard units and aircraft, have carried out permanent maritime and air patrols in the emergency area, without knowing the safety of the boat and the four crew members who were sailing on board.

In the same way, the Maritime Authority, through the Riohacha Port Authority, has notified all ships transiting the area, an operation that has been replicated in all the Port Authorities of the Colombian Caribbean Coast and also aby the different leaders of the indigenous communities, with the purpose of joining efforts and strengthening the search efforts.

In the same way, the search pattern was carried out by the Santa Marta Maritime Traffic and Control Station, which has been the fundamental technical resource for the search and rescue operation.

The Colombian Navy spares no effort and continues to work hand in hand with the productive maritime groups in order to safeguard human life at sea, by the use of units and the training of its men and women to provide support in any emergency protecting the good human physical condition at sea at risk and invites people to comply with maritime safety regulations, especially the use of a life jacket and report any emergency on the telephone line 146 or on the VHF channel 16.
