During a search and rescue operation for two missing fishermen in Tumaco - Nariño, the Colombian Navy, with the support of the Colombian Aerospace Force, found a semi-submarine device 18 meters long and three meters wide, when it was transporting more than four tons of cocaine hydrochloride on the border with Ecuador.
This operation was carried out in combination with the Ecuadorian Navy, which was in the same way participating in the search and rescue operation and which monitored the illegal device after its detection, when it was sailing in the border area. The Colombian Navy units carried out the maritime interception procedure, finding four individuals and 205 sacks of different sizes and shapes inside the semi-submarine.
The arrested individuals were taken along with the drug and put into custody of the authorities, who conducted the Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH, leaving positive result for 4,071 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride.
With this finding, the entry of more than 137 million dollars to drug trafficking organizations was prevented, as well as the marketing of more than ten million doses on the streets of the world.
The Naval Units of Colombia and Ecuador continue to conduct a search and rescue operation in the area in order to find the two missing fishermen.
