In the waters of San Andr茅s, units of the Colombian Navy intercepted three boats in which four individuals were illegally transporting 19 Venezuelan irregular migrants bound for Central America.
Three Colombians and a Nicaraguan were in charge of transporting the 19 rescued migrants, four minors whose ages two and six, and 15 adults whose ages 19 and 43, without the minimum safety conditions when going to sea and in breach of maritime regulations.
The ships were detected to the southwest of the island by the Traffic Control and Maritime Surveillance System, which gave notice to Coast Guard units, who immediately arrived at the said coordinates to verify the situation.
Once the personnel were found by troops, they were taken along with the boats to the dock of the San Andr茅s Coast Guard Station, to be assessed by Port and Military Health officials.
