Due to the emergency generated by the structural fire in one of the warehouses of the Free Trade Zone of Rionegro, Antioquia a team of firefighters of the Colombian Aerospace Force moved to the place to support the extinction.
The conflagration that caused loses in a company that exports boats to different countries, also caused consternation among the community. The causes of this event that fortunately did not leave fatal victims are still unknown.
In this context, the Colombian Aerospace Force, FAC, responded immediately and timely to the emergency, deploying a team of highly trained firefighters, who moved to the scene to collaborate in the firefighting efforts. In addition, the Colombian Air Force provided a large-capacity Iturri 4x4 vehicle, whose security systems, intelligent design, technology and optimal operations were vital for the management of the emergency thanks to its high water transport capacity and specialized equipment.
This machine with its turret systems conducted direct maneuvers in the conflagration by lowering the temperature with a chemical foam retardant agent leading the fire units to enter the hold and carry out extinguishing work on the internal structure.
The joint work with the Fire Departments of the nearby municipalities, such as Rionegro, El Carmen de Viboral and Guarne, who launched a military operation with more than 40 rescuers and several fire fighting units, was complemented by the valuable support of the Colombian Aerospace Force, who was permanently on the mission, dropping more than 10,000 gallons of water and 200 gallons of retardant foam towards the fire, preventing with these resources the spread of flames and controlling the emergency in record time.
