The activity benefited people in gratitude for their support during the emergency of the Colombian Air Force 1016 aircraft.
In a gesture of gratitude and recognition of the solidarity and courage shown by the inhabitants of Puerto Leguízamo, Putumayo department, during the emergency of the Colombian Air Force 1016 aircraft that occurred on March 23, the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force are carrying out a Development Support Activity, aimed at improving the wellbeing conditions of these people who turned to save the lives of military and police officers
For two days, at the facilities of the José María Hernández School, specialized medical services were provided in areas such as family and general medicine, orthopedics and traumatology, dentistry, psychology, nutrition, pediatrics, optometry and ophthalmology, facilitating access to care that is not permanently available in this municipality with limitations in its health system.
The activity was possible thanks to the coordinated work conducted by the Colombian Navy and the Colombian Aerospace Force, who arranged their logistical resources and the military operation to transport more than 12 tons of humanitarian aid and transfer specialized medical personnel to this area of the south of the country. In the same way, the Mayor's Office of Puerto Leguízamo, the María Angelines E.S.E. Hospital, the Colombian Family Wellbeing Institute, the Civil Defense, Colombian National Army and the National Police, as well as five foundations and the company Auteco, among other allies, supported the event and complemented it with donations and services.
As part of this activity, specialized medical care, humanitarian aid, food supplements, toiletries for early childhood and tools for agricultural work were provided. In the same way, motorcycle maintenance activities and recreational activities aimed at children were carried out, promoting community integration and strengthening the social fabric.
During the activity, 2,029 people benefited and more than 6,000 medical treatments were provided, figures that show a significant impact on the quality of life of the inhabitants of Puerto Leguizamo and its surrounding areas.
