Joint effort in Tolima to stop criminal operations of armed group

Esfuerzo conjunto en Tolima logra frenar acciones delictivas de grupo armado

In the early morning of November 1, 2024, in the village of El Vinagre in the municipality of Murillo, Tolima, a successful joint and coordinated operation conducted by the Colombian Air Force, Colombian National Army and the Police, which resulted in the damage and dismantling of the structure 26 de Marzo of the GAO-r Isa铆as Pardo Central Bloc within the framework of the Ayacucho Campaign plan.

During the operation, the ringleader known as alias Miller or Granadillo died. It was in the same way possible to arrest five members of the structure, and a minor was recovered. The operation led to the finding of a significant arsenal, including five long-range rifles, 22 rifle magazines, a 9 mm pistol, a .38 caliber revolver, three short-range radios and more than 500 cartridges of different calibers, as well as communication radios.

The GAO-r Front 26 de Marzo, under the command of alias Miller, had extended its influence and criminal activities in the upper part of Ibagu茅 and in the municipalities of Anzo谩tegui, Santa Isabel, Murillo, Venadillo and L铆bano. This structure is responsible for extortions and other illegal activities in the north of the department of Tolima, keeping these communities under threat with their criminal operations, especially by collecting money from extortion against inhabitants.

Through this powerful operation, the authorities have made significant progress in stabilizing the region, fulfilling the objectives of the Ayacucho Campaign plan. The Colombian Air Force reiterates its commitment to protect security and peace in the department of Tolima, especially in areas hit by these outlaw groups, and will continue to carry out operations to strengthen the tranquility and security of the inhabitants in the region.
