
Within the framework of the control and surveillance tasks carried out by the Military Forces in the Colombian Caribbean, Coast Guard units of the Colombian Navy, in a joint operation with the Colombian Aerospace Force carried out in Punta Gallinas, Department of La Guajira, reported the maritime interception of a “Go Fast” type ship manned by three individuals of two Dominican nationality and one Colombian, who were transporting 494.6 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, distributed in 20 sacks.
The detection was carried out by a surveillance and reconnaissance aircraft of the Colombian Aerospace Force, which directed a Rapid Reaction Unit - URR, from the Coast Guard Station of Santa Marta, to the contact. During the operation, a rifle with ammunition was found, as well as navigation and communication equipment, which were taken into custody and taken, along with those arrested, to carry out urgent acts by the Criminal Investigation Section - SIJIN (JUDICIAL POLICE) - of the National Police.
The Approved Preliminary Identification Test - PIPH-, tested positive for 494.6 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. This illegal merchandise would have a cost of more than 23.7 million dollars in the illegal market, and the capacity to produce approximately 1.2 million doses, which represents a significant loss to the finances and logistical capacity of transnational criminal organizations specialized in drug trafficking.
