Joint Task Force Omega destroyed mined area in Calamar rural area, Guaviare

This result was possible thanks to information provided by the inhabitants of the area.

The alert by the people led to the action of the troops of the Joint Task Force Omega to neutralize four explosive devices that had been planted and apparently were going to be detonated against the soldiers, by the residual Organized Armed Group, GAO-r, First Structure.

Experts of the Explosive Ordnance Management Group (MARTE) arrived in the village La Cristalina, in the municipality of Calamar, Guaviare, to carry out the inspection, since strange objects had been observed very close to the slaughter house, a situation that was denounced taking into account the recent death of a 21-year-old young man by an anti-personnel mine in the area.

Once the place was verified, three Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) with a remote control activation system and an Anti-Personnel Mine (MAP) with a pressure activation system were found by troops. All elements were destroyed in controlled conditions, thereby neutralizing a terrorist operation or a fatal incident.

It is noteworthy that these devices were planted in places crowded by the inhabitants, which becomes a clear violation of human rights and violation of international humanitarian law. However, thanks to the operation, the elements were neutralized by the military demining in the sector.

This situation was sent to the Specialized Prosecutor's Office 36 of San José del Guaviare, for the respective prosecution process.
