In order to continue guaranteeing comprehensive maritime security along the Nariñense Pacific region, the General Maritime Directorate, Dimar, through the Port Authority of Tumaco, is positively conducting a signaling project that will benefit 70 rural villages in the district.

Thus, Dimar, in coordination with technical personnel of the Center for Oceanographic and hydrographic research of the Pacific (CCCP), Pacific Maritime signaling (SEMAP) and inhabitants of the hamlets, carry out constant tours and fulfills the project that seeks to characterize, recognize and signal the safe waters of the district, and thus, improve navigation conditions.

On the other hand, within the framework of this project and after requests of the coastal communities, the Maritime Authority successfully conducted the change of Flashlight of the Tumaco Lighthouse for a high intensity turntable with LED lighting, and a lighting system of maximum efficiency, which will guarantee its visualization in ideal conditions up to 32 nautical miles.
