Massive aeromedical transfer saves the lives of wounded soldiers in the department of Guaviare

Traslado aeromédico masivo salva la vida de soldados

In an immediate reaction to the events reported in the Caño Mosco village in San José del Guaviare, the Colombian Aerospace Force deployed a Type C-295 aircraft, to carry out the massive aeromedical transfer of nine specialist soldiers of the Colombian National Army, who required emergency assistance.

The mission was coordinated through the National Personnel Recovery Center-CENRP and the air military transport command - CATAM, enabling a coordinated, safe and timely operation from San José del Guaviare to Bogotá.

Upon arrival of the aircraft to the capital city of the country, members of the Military Forces were taken in ambulances in the CATAM ramp to the Military Hospital, where they will receive specialized care of the medical Military Forces

During the flight, the crew made up of pilots, flight technicians, specialist doctors and nurses, worked synchronously to monitor and stabilize the vital signs of the soldiers, and worked for their permanent care at every stage of the journey. The preparation, experience and commitment of the human team were crucial to the success of the operation.

In order to accomplish this type of mission, the Colombian Aerospace Force configures its aircraft with air intensive care units, integrating biomedical systems, specialized stretchers and life support equipment, which manage to make massive transfers of patients in critical condition.

Through these resources, the institution reaffirms its ability to respond immediately and its vocation of service, reaching the most distant areas of the country with the mission of saving lives.
