About three tons of cocaine hydrochloride and more than a ton of coca paste base of the Comandos de Frontera were found by troops.
In just 72 hours, thanks to military operations conducted by troops of the Twenty-Seventh Rainforest Brigade, two powerful blows were dealt to prevent the entry of more than 22,000 million pesos to illicit activities, which weakens the drug production chain of this residual armed group.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Plan, it was possible to find and destroy two megalaboratories for the production of cocaine hydrochloride in the village San Cayetano, municipality of Puerto Caicedo, in the department of Putumayo, and in the village El Cocuy, municipality of Ipiales, department of Nariño.
In the first operation, thanks to the technical information of military intelligence, soldiers of the Rainforest Infantry Battalion No. 58 Brigadier General Edgar Alberto Rico Pulido, with the support of helicopters of the Army Aviation and the Aerospace Force of Colombia and the National Police destroyed a structure for the production of coca base paste that allegedly belonged to the GAO-r 48 so called Comandos de Frontera, National Coordination of the Bolivarian Army.
This structure was able to carry out different phases of production and crystallization to transform coca it into cocaine hydrochloride; more than 1,500 kilos of cocaine hydrochloride were found by troops in the place, as well as 1,700 gallons of cocaine hydrochloride in solution, 6185 gallons of liquid supplies, 550 kilograms of solid supplies and electrical generators, a freezer, a power adaptor with a capacity for 25 kilowatts, among other elements that were handed to the authorities.
In the second operation, another illegal laboratory for the production of cocaine hydrochloride was found and destroyed in the village of El Cocuy, municipality of Ipiales, in the department of Nariño.
Thanks to military intelligence information, soldiers of the Rainforest Infantry Battalion No. 58 Brigadier General Edgar Alberto Rico Pulido, with the support of helicopters of the Army Aviation and the Aerospace Force of Colombia, arrived at a structure for the production of coca base paste, apparently belonging to the GAO-r 48 Comandos de Frontera.
In this structure were found by troops more than 1,300 kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride, about 1,200 kilograms of coca paste base, more than 2,000 gallons of cocaine hydrochloride in solution, more than 3,400 gallons of liquid supplies, 1,050 kilograms of solid supplies and electricity generators, 17 microwave ovens, among other items that were in the same way given to the authorities.
By means of these military operations, the financial structure of these criminal organizations, responsible for homicides, criminal acts and confrontations with other structures specialized in drug trafficking, was struck; in the same way, the monthly circulation of more than 9,000 million doses of narcotics on the international illegal market was prevented, and the contamination of natural resources in rainforest areas was mitigated.
