Members of the Military Forces were trained in Signaling Military Objectives in Cali

Miembros de la Fuerza Pública fueron capacitados en Señalización de Objetivos Militares en Cali

38 military and police officers of the departments of Nariño, Cauca and Valle del Cauca, met at the facilities of the Marco Fidel Suárez Air Base, in Cali, in order to obtain knowledge in the Signaling of Military Objectives on the Ground, SOMT in Spanish.

This group of men, made up of members of the Military Forces distributed in sensitive law and order areas of the southwest of the country, met for four days, in order to strengthen their skills and train on techniques and procedures for the orientation of aircraft.

During the instruction, topics related to the designation of military objectives on the ground, phraseology, meteorology, cartography, weapons systems, International Humanitarian Law, close air support, among other contents, were in the same way addressed, which seek to optimize the flight time of aircraft during the military air operations that are deployed daily in the Colombian Pacific.

Within the framework of the SOMT course, the students in the same way carried out a day and night practice with the support of a Bell 206 Ranger helicopter, in which the different environments they could face were simulated to provide guidance to the crews of both fixed-wing and helicopter aircraft.

It should be noted that this course was led by the Aeronautical Education Group of the Air Combat Command No. 7 and was supported by an officer, co-pilot of the UH-60 helicopter, who was in charge of executing the curriculum established for this instruction.
