This is the story of Second lieutenant Érika Lisbeth Alarcón Sánchez, a girl from Boyacá who enlisted in the ranks of Colombian National Army, and in the department of Vaupés watches over the health of more than 2000 units of the Brigade No.31.

Second Lieutenant Alarcón was born in Duitama, Boyacá, in 1996, and being the only woman of her four brothers, she decided to study Professional Nursing and then join the ranks of Colombian National Army, because she says that from a very young age she identified her vocation of service and wanted to ratify it by helping an entire nation with her knowledge.

She is currently the director of the military health establishment of Infantry Battalion No.30 in Mitú, and it is thanks to his coordinated work with different institutions that she has been able to contribute to institutional strengthening and health promotion in soldiers, non-commissioned officers and officers of the Thirty-First Brigade, men and women specialized in securing the more than 250 indigenous communities of the Vaupés.

The protection and preservation of the life of the military is a crucial factor to be able to fulfill the constitutional mission and ensure the sovereignty of the nation, this is how the operation of this officer takes on great importance in this department.

Second Lieutenant Alarcón has been driven by her professionalism, which is why she was appointed as an instructor of several military lifeguard courses, transferring basic health knowledge to soldiers who, after successfully passing the academic space, provide first aid in the area of operations.
