In less than 24 hours, soldiers of Colombian National Army fought by land and air terrorist structures of the Jacobo Arenas Bloc, commanded by alias Ivan Mordisco, in the departments of Valle del Cauca, Cauca and Nariño, preventing their terrorist acts from hitting the inhabitants and regional stability.
Within the framework of the Democracy 2026 Plan and as part of the deployment of the military operation in the southwest of the country, troops of the Third Division of Colombian National Army engaged in the last 24 hours several armed clashes with organized armed groups that planned to hinder the military units and hit the security operation arranged for the elections.
Thanks to the joint military operations with the Colombian Aerospace Force, the National Navy and in coordination with the National Police, the troops contain and neutralize six terrorist acts, contributing to preserving law and order and the tranquility of the inhabitants in critical areas of the departments of Valle del Cauca, Cauca, and Nariño.
The first action was reported in the village of Ampudia, municipality of Jamundí, department of Valle de Cauca, where units of the Third Brigade repelled an attack executed with firearms and the launching of explosive devices by drones, preventing damages to the inhabitants and the Military Forces.
In the second incident, on the National Route that connects Cali with Buenaventura, soldiers of the Light Cavalry Group Nº 8, in coordination with the National Police, found two gas cylinders loaded with explosives. These were destroyed in controlled conditions by specialized personnel, preventing their use against mobility and road construction.
In the third operation took place in the village of La Caraqueña, municipality of Miranda, department of Cauca, where troops of the Twenty-Ninth Brigade sustained intense fighting against members of the Dagoberto Ramos Structure, who sought to hinder the security operation established for the electoral elections.
In the fourth operation, carried out in the village of La Azucena, municipality of El Tambo, department of Cauca, troops of the Twenty-Ninth Brigade sustained intense fighting against members of the Carlos Patiño structure. Failing to stop the military progress, these criminals resorted to the use of drones loaded with explosives to try to violate the integrity of the units. However, the rapid and coordinated reaction of the soldiers neutralized the threat, preventing the devices from hitting the Military Forces or disrupting the operation.
Later, in the village of San Francisco, municipality of Santander de Quilichao, units of the same Brigade confronted members of the Jaime Martínez Structure, thwarting its intentions to hit the progress of military operations and the stability of the region during the pre-electoral period.
Finally, in the village of Guabal, municipality of Santa Bárbara de Iscuandé, department of Nariño, troops of the Rapid Deployment Force Nº 2 engaged clashes with members of the Jonnier Toro Arenas structure Nº30, neutralizing their actions and leading the continuity of military operations in the area.
These criminal structures have decided to use drones modified with explosives and other illicit means and methods of warfare, with which they seek to hit the inhabitants and the Military Forces. However, the troops are constantly responding in a legitimate, proportional and in line with international humanitarian law and respect for human rights.
