The units are constantly operating on the area and are continuing with the searches, in order to prevent any situation that threatens the safety of the inhabitants of the sector.
In compliance with the Ayacucho Strategic Campaign Plan and due to a reported combat conducted by troops of the 24th Land Operations Battalion, of the Eleventh Brigade of Colombian National Army, against the organized armed group, GAO, Clan del Golfo, two members of this organization were killed in the framework of military operations, including the armed ringleader and financial and logistical coordinator of the Substructure Yeison Leudo Chaverra, who was known as alias Rojo or Tomate.
The action occurred in the village of Bejuquillo, in the municipality of Cáceres, Antioquia. At the site, the soldiers were carrying out control and area reconnaissance tasks, when the military operation took place and resulted in the neutralization of these individuals, who had in their possession a 9 mm caliber pistol, 31 cartridges, communications material, documentation of interest to military intelligence and more than 800,000 pesos in cash.
According to the information, alias Rojo o Tomate stood out for his strategic profile, criminal command capacity and his ability to plan, coordinate and execute multiple criminal operations, both on the ground and in logistics, which made him a key ringleader within the illegal substructure.
In the same way, this individual would be in charge of collecting money from extortion made against the Vaquero, San Pablo and Peladero mines, belonging to the municipality, where he carried out monetary extortion of money from farmers and miners, and, in addition, exercised control of the precursors that enter the sector for the production of coca paste base and illicit exploitation of mining deposits.
Alias Rojo o Tomate would in the same way be responsible for the logistics part of the organization's armed commissions, coordinating the supply of resources, the mobility of the members, as well as supporting the operations of illegal control of the territory and confrontation against other GAOs.
Additionally, it was learned that this individual was in charge of directing the evacuation of the killed and wounded members of the substructure during the bombing recently carried out in that sector by the Deployment Force against Transnational Threats.
With the neutralization of alias Rojo or Tomate, criminal operations by the GAO Clan del Golfo are countered, these operations seek to strengthen its financial resources by controlling illicit activities in the Bajo Cauca region of Antioquia.
