Within the framework of a joint and coordinated military operation, the Colombian Aerospace Force, through the Air Combat Command No. 6, in coordination with the Colombian National Army and the Colombian National Police, reported the finding and destruction of seven illicit mining production units used to finance criminal structures in the south of the country.
The military operation took place in the village of Playa Rica, municipality of Puerto Caicedo, department of Putumayo, where illegal complexes used for the illicit exploitation of open-pit mining deposits were intervened; these were allegedly controlled by the Residual Organized Armed Group Segunda Marquetalia, Structure 48 Comandos de Frontera.
In addition to the seven illegal mining production units, seven motor pumps, four diver-type dredgers, two classifiers, 400 meters of black hose and 80 meters of three-inch PVC pipe were in the same way destroyed, elements that would cost more than 128 million pesos. In addition, it was possible tom produce an economic loss close to 3,000 million pesos belonging to the illicit finances of this criminal structure.
